Have you put the dates in your diary yet? The EPHMRA Conference will take place from 23 – 25 June 2020, so get the time booked in now! Registrations will open in January.
This year, the conference is being held in Antwerp, Belgium. We’ll be based at the inspirational Flanders Meeting and Convention Centre, also known as ‘A Room with A Zoo’ - intrigued?
Accessible Location
Located centrally in Europe, we selected Antwerp for next year’s event so even more colleagues can benefit from our conference.
Reach the conference by:
Air – Brussels International Airport offers a direct rail link twice an hour to Antwerp that takes 34 minutes. There is also Antwerp Airport, which is 15 minutes away and has flights to London City Airport and other European destinations.
Train – the Convention Center is located right next door to Antwerp Central Station, which has rail links to cities across Europe.
A Unique Experience
We think it’s important to give conference delegates an event worth remembering. So, as well as offering you expert speakers, thought-provoking discussions and valuable networking opportunities, we’ve also found a venue to inspire you.
The Flanders Meeting and Convention Center is the only Convention Center in the world with a zoo on site. Yes, that’s right, a zoo! You may wish to visit and enjoy this historic zoo during your stay – experiencing the natural world in all its glory can really revitalise and motivate.
What’s more, the venue’s buildings are beautiful examples of 19th century architecture, that are open, light and are a joy to spend time in. The grounds and rooms within the venue also contain impressive collections of art and sculpture.
Conservation Matters
As an Association, we are making a conscious effort to become more environmentally friendly in everything we do. Delegates from this year’s conference may remember the switch to reusable drinks bottles and recycled name badges. Well, for the 2020 conference we are taking our approach to sustainability a step further.
Flanders Meeting and Convention Center is owned by the Antwerp Zoo Foundation – and profits from events go towards the Foundation’s work in many areas worldwide, including:
- Animal welfare
- Heritage
- Breeding programmes
- Research
- Nature conservation.
We particularly liked this link to nature and conservation, by attending our conference you will be making your own contribution to a more sustainable society.
Hotels and More...
The beautiful city of Antwerp has over 4,200 hotel rooms, many just a short walk from the Convention Center. So, no need for taxis or public transport.
Antwerp is a historic port city with many magnificent buildings, such as Antwerp Central Station, the Cathedral of Our Lady (on the UNESCO World Heritage list) and, for a modern take on architecture, the Museum aan de Stroom (MAS).
It is also host to numerous fine dining restaurants and bars, and of course, Belgium’s world-famous beers.
